About the practitioner
Drawing on experiences between Osteopathic practise, University Anatomy education and Personal Training, Dr. Ethen Kauiers believes that well-being is relatively subjective, depending on a person and their background.
What got me into Osteopathy?
finding an Osteopath who alleviated me from months’ worth of pain in a single treatment, the combination of expert medical knowledge, the human body and hands-on skills convinced me of how powerful manual therapy is, as a form of ‘medicine’.
Thus, a Masters’ degree in Health Science (Osteopathic Sciences) seemed like the answer. This was really the beginning of a pursuit to diversify my knowledge of how best to help people through a number of opportunities. And the opportunities keep on coming.
Throughout a variety of professional experiences, I gained an appreciation for first hearing people and what they had to say, then understanding the nature of their physical pains / disabilities, before putting into practise both direct, hands-on therapy in combination with rehabilitative advice for long-term improvement.
What's my personal take on treating people?
In my years of experience managing injuries, first as a trainer, then as an Osteopath, the state of wellbeing someone can return to from acute or chronic injury / disease is unknown until a person is willing to participate in therapy. Once they’re ready to invest themselves in a gradual plan towards recuperating from pain, the discomfort of moving out of their ‘physical protectiveness’ and ‘beliefs around pain’ are the only obstacles.
Then the magic starts. And expectations are surpassed, again and again.

Below is a short summary of some of related experiences to my work.

A note from the Practitioner...
In being a healthcare practitioner, there's a life-long practise of being a blend of many things; being transparent with patients, receptive to concerns, empathetic, but straightforward with what needs to be communicated regarding their health..
No one-person has 'perfect health', nor will any person always be in a state of 'best health'.
But we can create a reference pointfor where we 'feel our best'.
At times we are seeking an improvement on our current state of health, or wellbeing, or physicality.
In these cases, our role as a health practitioner is encouraging people to acknowledge their current circumstances, and how we can work towards them being more content, more confident that they are well; not simply managing sickness or disability.
